Charles L. Hareld, Sr., 87, of Seekonk and formerly of Providence, Rhode Island; died on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Kindred Hospital in Stoughton following a period of declining health. He was the husband of Patricia A. (McCarthy) Hareld. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on April 20, 1928, he was a son of the late Walter J. and Lydia J. Hareld. He was a proud veteran of the United States Merchant Marines. Mr. Hareld was employed as a welder for Electric Boat in Quonset Point for many years prior to his retirement. He resided in Seekonk for the past 35 years having previously resided in Providence, Rhode Island. As a Native American, Mr. Hareld was the President and Chairman of the Rhode Island Indian Council and active at all Native American Powwows and other gatherings. He was also chosen to appear in the first Twin River Casino commercial as well as many training videos for doctors and nurses. He has appeared in numerous other commercials and films as well as conducted promotional demos in RI and MA. In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter: Shannon L. Hareld and her fiancé, Adam r. Vierra, of Seekonk; two stepchildren: Michele A. LeFort and her husband, James R. LeFort, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; Colleen W. Ferland and her husband, John Ferland, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; a brother: Raymond Hareld and his wife, Shirley Hareld, of Exeter, Rhode Island; four grandchildren: Brianna L. Vierra, Michael L. Vierra, Ashley E. LeFort and Kaileigh A. LeFort and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. He was the stepfather of the late John E. Riley and was predeceased by 11 siblings. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Saturday, June 13, 2015 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM in the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, Rhode Island on Friday, July 17, 2015 at 12:00 Noon.
