Charles B. Brederson, Jr.

Charles B. Charley Brederson, Jr., 81, of Stoney Brook Lane, Attleboro, died on Friday, August 19, 2011 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro following a period of declining health. He was the husband of Ruth E. (Kazarian) Brederson to whom he was married on January 23, 1951. Born in East Providence, Rhode Island on December 7, 1929, he was a son of the late Charles B. Brederson, Sr. and Alice E. (Berghman) Brederson. Raised and educated in North Attleboro, Mr. Brederson moved to the City of Attleboro in 1952. As a member of the United States Coast Guard he served as a marine officer with the United States Merchant Marines aboard the USS Magnolia and the USS Siwanoy during his several years of service. He was employed as an electrical engineer for the former Diano Corporation in Attleboro and later Mansfield and remained with the company following the acquisition of the firm by Baush and Lomb when he relocated to the Dedham facility. He retired at the age of 59 following 35 years of dedicated service. He will be affectionately remembered for always having a pencil behind his ear and a shirt pocket with at least one pen and pencil at all times. Mr. Brederson enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. As a long distance and marathon runner, he completed numerous marathons including the Boston Marathon, New York City marathon and 26.2 mile races in Canada. He was a former member and administrator of the Loyal Order of Moose in Attleboro and was currently a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Yarmouth. Mr. Brederson enjoyed teaching himself the art of fixing and repairing things and treasured the time spent making model ships. With warmth in their hearts, family and friends will often recall how he would introduce himselfIm Charley with an ey. In addition to his wife of over 60 years, he leaves three children: Richard A. Brederson, Sr. of Attleboro; Deborah K. Girouard of Attleboro and Lynne L. Yeatman of Adelphi, Maryland; six grandchildren: Stephanie L. Bergeron of Plainville; Christine A. Lynch of Norton; Richard A. Brederson, Jr. of Lincoln, Rhode Island; Jill D. Brederson in Rhode Island; Sgt. Stephen E. Girouard, Jr. of Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri and Chelsea Yeatman of Adelphi, Maryland; nine great grandchildren; a sister: Helen Goulet of Attleboro; two brothers: Arnold Brederson of North Attleboro and Harold Jake Brederson of Attleboro; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and good friends. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Celebration of His Life and a Sharing of Memories in the Memorial Chapel of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), North Attleboro. Burial will be private. Childrens room available during the remembrance gathering. A ritual service will be conducted by members of the Loyal Order of Moose during the gathering time. Following services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the North Attleboro Elks Lodge, Bulfinch Street, North Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation, Inc., a registered 501 (c) 3 organization, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02760 to benefit the Disabled American Veterans.
