Carolyn Mary Rizzo

Carolyn Mary (Celentano) Rizzo, 62, of Stanson Drive, North Attleboro, died at her residence surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 13, 2014. She was the wife of Thomas P. Rizzo. Born in New York City on March 1, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Peter P. and Mary A. (Spatafora) Celentano. Raised and educated in New York, Mrs. Rizzo was a 1970 graduate of Hempstead High School. She attended Miami Dade College and C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University. She moved to North Attleboro from Westbury, New York in 1987. Mrs. Rizzo was employed by the United States Postal Service for 32 years in New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island and for the Federal Aviation Administration for three years in Massachusetts, having been a labor relations specialist for both federal agencies prior to her retirement. For five years, Mrs. Rizzo was employed in the member services department of the Hockomock Area Y.M.C.A. She was a communicant of St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Mrs. Rizzo was a member of the Town of North Attleboro Representative Town Meeting and had served as president of the North Attleboro Band Parents Organization. Her favorite pastimes included jewelry making, sewing and quilting, travelling, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. She forged many close friendships, and was revered for her generosity of time and spirit. She will be remembered lovingly for the years she spent caring for her ailing mother. In addition to her husband, she leaves: a daughter, Karissa N. Bibby and her husband, Jason H. Bibby, of North Attleboro; two sons, Thomas P. Rizzo, Jr. and his wife, Sarah E. (Olson) Rizzo, of South Attleboro, and Peter T. Rizzo of Waltham; a twin brother, Peter S. Celentano of East Patchogue, New York; three additional brothers, Paul J. Celentano of Smithtown, New York, Michael S. Celentano of Oxon Hill, Maryland and Gregory J. Celentano of Holtsville, New York; sisters, Denyce M. Beaman of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Deborah T. Rappoport of Bayside, New York; grandchildren, Jason D. and Stella M. Bibby of North Attleboro; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. She was the sister of the late Dominick P. Celentano. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on BOTH THURSDAY, September 18, and FRIDAY, September 19, 2014 from 5 to 8 PM in the Memorial Chapel of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the funeral on SATURDAY, September 20 at 8:30 AM at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church, Stanley Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Thomas Frechette, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, Mount Hope Street, North Attleboro.
