Carol A. (Rahn) Wartenberg, 71, of Providence, RI, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at her home. She was the beloved wife of Alan A. Wartenberg, M.D., whom she married on September 23, 1978.
Born on October 10, 1947 in Milwaukee, WI, Carol was the daughter of the late John and Julia (Bieber) Rahn. She was a graduate of Washington High School in Milwaukee. She received her master's degree in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
A resident of Providence for the past two years, Carol previously lived for twelve years in Attleboro, MA, where she taught English as a Second Language in the Literacy Center. She was a woman of strong faith and a member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Providence.
Carol touched countless lives through education, having taught English and citizenship classes to Latin American immigrants and refugees for over 20 years. She was truly committed to helping others and leaving the world a better place.
In addition to her husband, Alan, she leaves her cherished daughters: Eve W. Condon and her husband, Patrick F. Condon, of Providence, RI; and Ruth J. Wartenberg, and her partner, Scott M. Matthieu, of Cranston, RI. She was the adoring grandmother of Natalia S. Wartenberg and Grayson E. Matthieu. Carol also leaves many dear friends.
Friends and family are invited to honor and remember Carol at a Visitation on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 1:30 PM at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 50 Orchard Avenue, Providence, RI.
Graveside services will immediately follow the funeral service in Agudas Achim Cemetery, South Main Street, Attleboro, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol's name to Sojourner House, Immigration Advocacy Program, 386 Smith Street, Providence, RI 02908.
