Carmen A. Merlino, 83, of Leesburg, FL, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020 in Clearwater, FL. He was the husband of Claire (Hourin) Merlino of Leesburg, FL for 43 years.
Born on September 23, 1936 in Dorchester, MA, he was a son of the late Anthony Merlino and the late Lena (Schepis) Merlino.
Carmen was raised in Hyde Park, MA and was a graduate of Hyde Park High School. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy. He had been a resident of Leesburg for many years. Before settling in Florida, Carmen worked at Boston Logan International Airport for Signature Aviation, Butler Aviation and Eastern Airlines. In his spare time, Carmen loved to play softball and eat lobster.
He was the beloved father of Richard Merlino and his wife Sandy Merlino, and Diane Merlino Hague, all of Dedham, MA; grandfather of David Hague and Matthew Hague, both of Foxboro, MA; brother of Anthony "Tony" Merlino and his companion Ivonne, of Attleboro, MA; and uncle of Antoinette Merlino and her husband David Gardiner, of Burlington, MA and Steven Hourin and his wife Tracy Hourin, of New Jersey. He also leaves many dear friends. Carmen was the brother of the late Antoinette Merlino Macri.
With strict adherence to applicable Covid-19 health precautions, including MANDATORY social distancing and the use of facemasks, family and friends are cordially invited to honor Carmen by attending a Memorial Gathering in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, on Monday, August 10, 2020 from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service in the "Memorial Chapel" starting at 4:30 p.m. AT THE REQUEST OF CARMEN'S FAMILY, FOR THEIR SAFETY AND YOURS, MANDATORY SOCIAL DISTANCING IS REQUIRED.
