Carlton Edwin Gobin, 76, of Walnut Street, Rehoboth; an Attleboro native, died on Tuesday morning, October 18, 2011 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Beverly F. (Fairhurst) Gobin to whom he was married on September 6, 1958. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on August 28, 1935, he was one of three sons born to the late Joseph A. Gobin, Sr. and Alberta W. (Spriggs) Gobin. He was raised and educated in Attleboro where he resided until moving to Rehoboth 50 years ago. Mr. Gobin was a veteran of the United States Army. He attended the Faith Alliance Church, Attleboro. Along with his two brothers, he owned and operated the former Gobin Motors, Inc. on Oakhill Avenue in Attleboro for 57 years. An ardent horse caretaker, Mr. Gobin was devoted and dedicated to their welfare and was often seen riding horses in local parades and special events. His love for horses extended to ponies and he enjoyed using his pony carts to entertain family, friends and neighbors. He was a quiet man and his family will remember his exemplary work ethic and his genuine love and devotion for his wife, children and, in later years, his grandchildren. In addition to his wife of 53 years, he leaves two children: Kevin S. Gobin and his wife, Rachel F. (Levine) Gobin, of Taunton and Donna F. Kelly and her husband, Michael P. Kelly, of Swansea; four grandchildren: John and William Kelly of Swansea and Lee and Jack Gobin of Taunton and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. He was the brother of the late Richard E. Gobin who died on February 17, 2006 and Joseph A. Art Gobin, Jr. who died on March 19, 2003. Visitation with Veterans Honors will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 4:00 8:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the Funeral Service on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Faith Alliance Church, 833 Pleasant Street, Attleboro. Burial with military honors will follow in Oak Knoll Cemetery, Rehoboth. Following services an invitation will be extended to join the family for continued fellowship and refreshment.
