Carlene Ruth (Lindberg) Nelson, R.N., 69, of Wilmarth Street, Attleboro; died unexpectedly at her residence on Saturday, September 29, 2012. She was the wife of Russell Harry Nelson to whom she was married on May 2, 1964. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on November 3, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Martha (Moberg) Lindberg. She was raised and educated in the City of Attleboro where she was a 1960 graduate of Attleboro High School. She then attended New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Boston and graduated in 1963. Mrs. Nelson was employed as a registered nurse for Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro from 1963 - 1971 and for St. Joseph's Hospital in Providence and later the Fatima Unit of St. Joseph Hospital in North Providence from 1971 until her retirement in 2006. She resided in Attleboro until 1964 when she moved to Pawtucket, Rhode Island where she resided for five years and moved to Cranston, Rhode Island in 1969 and remained there until returning to Attleboro in 2003. Mrs. Nelson was a lifelong member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Attleboro where she volunteered for numerous church events and activities and was a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher. She enjoyed caring for others and will be remembered for her humble attitude and spirit. In addition to her husband of 48 years, she leaves three sons: Ross L. Nelson and his wife, Ceri J. (Yarworth) Nelson, of Attleboro; Jeffrey R. Nelson and his wife, Dr. Jennifer L. (Gregorio) Nelson, DMD, of North Attleboro and Matthew B. Nelson and his wife, Alexandria B. (Levin) Nelson of Cranston, Rhode Island; her sister: Betty E. Larson and her husband, Daniel Larson, of Attleboro; six, soon to be seven, grandchildren and several extended family members and friends. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Those in need of a ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Service on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 841 North Main Street - Route 152, Attleboro, with the Rev. Douglas J. Bixby, Senior Pastor, officiating. The funeral procession will proceed via foot to neighboring North Purchase Cemetery for graveside services. Family and friends will be cordially invited to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshment in the Fellowship Hall of the Evangelical Covenant Church following cemetery services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Nelson's name may be made to the Evangelical Covenant Church Memorial Fund, PO Box 208, Attleboro, MA 02703.
