Bruce Ballard Babcock, 56, of Mount Hope Street, North Attleboro, died on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island following a brief illness. Born in Newton, Massachusetts on October 17, 1956 he was a son of the late Russell Howard and Ellen Thompson (Clewely) Babcock. He was raised and educated in Norwood and was a 1974 graduate of Norwood High School. Mr. Babcock earned his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from UMASS - Amherst and his Masters in Business Administration from Suffolk University. He resided in North Attleboro since 1989 having previously resided in the City of Attleboro. Mr. Babcock served his country as a member of the Public Health Service organization. As a professional engineer, Mr. Babcock was employed for Tibbetts Engineering in Taunton for more than the past ten years. He was a member of the Angle Tree Stone Rod and Gun Club in North Attleboro and the West Bay Yacht Club in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. He treasured the times spent sailing, was a history afficianado and dedicated New England Patriots fan. Upon his death he left the greatest gift of all to others by being an organ donor. He leaves a son: Aaron Guild Babcock of North Attleboro; a sister: Lucinda M. Hagar of Rehoboth; three brothers: David H. Babcock of San Diego, California; William R. Babcock of Florisant, Missouri and Robert G. Babcock of Smithfield, Rhode Island and several extended family members including aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Friday, September 27, 2013 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. For those in need of local ride to visitation simply call the funeral home at 508-695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral service. Private burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Following funeral services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Babcock's name may be made to North Attleboro Veteran's Services, 43 South Washington Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760.
