Beverly A. (Johnson) Armstrong, 79, of Plainville, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the wife of William "Bill" R. Armstrong, Jr. to whom she was married on August 18, 1956 in Swampscott, MA. Born in Lynn, MA on July 7, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Fletcher A. and Edith J. (Cahoun) Johnson. Mrs. Armstrong was a graduate of Swampscott High School, Class of 1952. She furthered her education at Wheaton College and then graduated from Tufts University in 1956. She was employed as a first grade teacher at Plainville Elementary School from 1956-1958. During this time, the Armstrong's moved to Plainville, making it their permanent home. Mrs. Armstrong's religion was very important to her and the Second Congregational Church in Attleboro was like a second home . She was a member of virtually every committee there, and in recent years, coordinated the church prayer chain. Among her favorite pastimes were gardening, playing tennis and bicycling. Beverly was an avid Red Sox fan and a big supporter of the Plainville Athletic League and King Philip sports. She was also well-known for her incredible pies. In addition to her husband of fifty-seven years; Beverly is survived by her three children: William R. Armstrong, III of Alexander, VA; Kimberly A. Poirier and her husband, Christopher J. Poirier of Plainville; and Lynda J. Armstrong, also of Plainville; and one brother: Fletcher A. Johnson, Jr. of Naples, FL. She also leaves three grandchildren: Justin C. Poirier, Renée N. Poirier, and Liam Armstrong; one nephew and one niece: Rocky Johnson and Jodi-Ann Johnson. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial visitation on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Childrens room is available during the visitation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Second Congregational Church, 50 Park Street, Attleboro, MA 02703. Immediately following the funeral service, an invitation will be extended to join Beverly's family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshment in the lower level of the church. Burial will be private in the Shepardville Cemetery in Plainville.
