Beulah "Penny" Jeanette Rench

November 20, 1950 — January 9, 2021

Beulah "Penny" Jeanette Rench, 70, of Smithfield, RI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence, RI.  She was the beloved wife of Michael Edward Rench, whom she married on August 19, 1978.
Penny was born on November 20, 1950 in Norwich, CT and was a graduate of King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham, MA.
A resident of Smithfield for the past seven years, she previously lived in Plainville, MA for thirty-five years where she had once served as the Parks Commissioner and was proud of her involvement in reopening that town's public pool.  Penny worked for many years as a PCA both in private and nursing home settings. She last enjoyed working as a Volunteer Coordinator for the North Attleboro Senior Center, having retired in 2004 to care for her grandchildren.
A woman of faith, she was a longtime member of the Plainville United Methodist Church.
For more than twenty-five years, she was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Angle Stone Chapter No. 118, in North Attleboro, MA, where she had the privilege of serving twice as the Worthy Matron.
Penny loved to travel, especially by cruise ship. She enjoyed shopping and crafts and took great pride in, and enjoyment from, her home. She will always be remembered for having made the most delicious apple pies.  Most important to Penny, though, was her cherished family; she truly savored her role as Nana.
In addition to her husband, Michael, she leaves her loving children: Kristopher J. Rench and his wife, Kristen A. (Wallace) Rench, of Derry, NH; Katrina M. (Rench) Coupe and her husband, Gregory F. Coupe, of Greenville, RI; and Kandice M. (Rench) Johnston and her husband, James E. Johnston, of Franklin, MA, as well as Kandice's former husband, Andrew J. Fogarty, of Franklin, MA.  Penny was the proud and adoring Nana of Sophie Rench, Juliet Rench, Kaydence Coupe, Taylor Coupe, Haileigh Fogarty, Nathan Fogarty, Kyle Fogarty, and Ayla Johnston, and was excitedly looking forward to the birth of a new granddaughter.  She was the loving Nana of the late Clara E. Johnston, and leaves numerous cousins, her extended family, and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her late mother, Clara Cohen.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to gather for a time of remembrance and celebration of life on June 5, 2021 anytime from 1:00 - 5:00 PM at the family home at 27 MacArthur Drive, Smithfield, RI.  The Order of the Eastern Star will perform a ritual service during the gathering.
As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Penny's memory to any of the charities supported by the Order of the Eastern Star. Please send checks payable to Angle Stone Chapter No. 118, c/o Joan Tinkham, 25 Huntley Rd., North Attleboro, MA 02760.
