Betina Emma Lamay

Betina Emma (Schlenz) LaMay, affectionately known as "Betty", 82, of Hillside Avenue, Attleboro, died on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Eugene E. LaMay who died in 1989. Born in Munich, Germany on May 9, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Fredrick and Berta (Hoffman) Schlenz. She was raised and educated in Germany where she resided until immigrating to the United States in August 1954. Upon her arrival to America, Mrs. LaMay settled in Attleboro and has remained a resident since 1954. Mrs. LaMay was employed in the jewelry industry for many years in a variety of capacities including 25 years as an employee of the Robbins Company. She formerly attended the First Baptist Church in Mansfield. A lifelong animal lover, Mrs. LaMay was a supporter of the SPCA, enjoyed shopping, cooking German-style cuisine and adored flowers. She leaves her children: Walter LaMay of Attleboro; Belita McCracken of South Attleboro; Rosemary Zabala of Florida; Deborah J. LaMay with whom she resided in Attleboro and Kathryn Ramos of Attleboro; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister: Lily in Germany; a dear friend: Donna Mingo of Rehoboth and several extended family members and friends. She was the mother of the late Suzanne LaMay who died in 2000 and was the paternal grandmother of the late Douglas LaMay who died in 2010. Visitation is respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Graveside Funeral Service on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 12:00 PM at Spring Brook Cemetery, Mansfield. Burial will follow. Please do not send flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Massachusetts SPCA or any organization benefiting animals.
