Benjamin Fredrick Ferrante

March 16, 1921 — July 8, 2012

Benjamin Fredrick Ferrante, 91, of Cottage Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro; died on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the Epoch of Norton where he had been a short-term resident. He was the husband of the late Beatrice M. (Gervais) Ferrante to whom he was married on June 9, 1945 and entered into eternal rest on February 2, 1994. Born at the family home in Johnston, Rhode Island on March 16, 1921, he was a son of the late Benny and Margaret (Pezza) Ferrante. He resided in Johnston until moving to North Attleboro during his youth and he remained a resident of the community for most of his life. Upon moving to North Attleboro the family settled on a farm and Mr. Ferrante spent many years working the homestead farm - The Red Rock Hill Orchard. He later became a meat cutter and was employed at the former Met Food in North Attleboro, RoJacks in South Attleboro and Fernandes in Plainville. He was a member of the Meat Cutters Association. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in North Attleboro many years ago before attending St. Mark Roman Catholic Church in Attleboro Falls. More recently he attended St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church in South Attleboro with his good friend, Mr. Balut. An ardent bowler and sports enthusiast, Mr. Ferrante also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family creating lifelong memories to cherish. He leaves five children: Linda J. Forbes and her husband, Grant Forbes, of North Attleboro; John B. Ferrante of Palm Bay, Florida; Deborah S. Brown and her husband, Richard Brown, of Franklin; Cheryl R. Boyer and her husband, Wayne Boyer, of Johnston, Rhode Island and Lori B. Pullan and her husband, Steven Pullan, of Attleboro Falls; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; three sisters: Lillian M. Mahoney of North Attleboro; Gloria B. Mahoney in Florida; Rita Riel of North Attleboro and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was the brother of the late Daniel Ferrante. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. For those in need of local transportation to visitation simply call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis service. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 8:30 AM from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Baltic Street, South Attleboro with the Rev. Jon Paul Gallant, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Towne Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation and while the funeral cortege is being organized. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
