Barbara Ann (Helides) Woodrow passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater in West Bridgewater, MA, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.Barbara was born on November 29, 1931 in Taunton, MA. She was the daughter of the late Stratus M. and Lola V. (Whalon) Helides. Barbara attended Taunton schools and made a career in the retail industry. Always interested in fashion, she was employed over the years as a sales person in local women's department stores, including the former Pobers and New York Lace Store in Taunton.Growing up, she and her brothers often spent time at her family's restaurant "The Transfer" in Taunton, MA, and in the summertime they enjoyed the family hotel/restaurant, "The Glen Cove" in Onset, MA.Barbara loved gardening, antiquing, yard sales, crafts and decorating for every holiday. Many of the decorations she crafted herself and often gifted friends and family with her creations.Barbara made her home for many years in Colora, MD with her husband, Sam, before returning to Massachusetts in 2014.In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Samuel J. Woodrow, and two brothers Stratus M. "Peter" Helides, Jr. and Arthur D. Helides. She is survived by two daughters: Carol (Hannigan) Baptiste and her husband, Donald, of Rehoboth, MA; and Lola (Hannigan) Andrade and her husband, Carl, of Fall River, MA; one granddaughter, Christine Baptiste-LaMothe and her husband, Richard, of Berkley, MA; her sister-in-law, Carol J. Helides, of Raynham, MA, and many nieces and nephews.
