Barbara (Kennerson) Wilmarth, 99, of Attleboro, MA, peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Life Care Center of Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Wesley Wilmarth, Sr. Born on October 22, 1916 in Plainville, MA, she was the daughter of the late John A. Kennerson and Alice (Cobb) Kennerson.A resident of Attleboro since 1940, she was raised and educated in Plainville, MA. Barbara was a graduate of Plainville High School, Class of 1934, and Sturdy Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. A Registered Nurse, she worked at Boston City Hospital and later as a private duty nurse. Barbara proudly valued her role as a Homemaker. Barbara was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Attleboro, and of the Girl and Boy Scouts of America, the Brownies, and the Cub Scouts. She loved all animals, especially her beloved cat, "Frisky". She held a special place in her heart for Prudence Island, RI, where she had a home. Above all, Barbara's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children: Barbara A. (Wilmarth) Potter of Woolwich, ME; John T. "Jack" Wilmarth of Attleboro, MA; and Charles W. Wilmarth, Jr. of West Warwick, RI. She leaves three cherished grandchildren and eight treasured great-grandchildren.Barbara was the sister of the late Mary Lois (Wilmarth) Yerchik.Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Visitation on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Service on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. in the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, Rev. Jim Cox, officiating. Burial services will follow at North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro, MA.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Barbara's name to Centenary United Methodist Church, 39 North Main Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
