Barbara A. (Jackson) Pelchat, 83, of Sandcastle Estates, 500 Mendon Road, South Attleboro, died on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the wife of Ralph N. Pelchat to whom she was married in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on January 23, 1954. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on November 8, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Florence (Haspell-Gaskell) Jackson. She was raised and educated in Attleboro and resided in South Attleboro for most of her life with the exception of 1995 -2005 when she resided in Centerville on Cape Cod. Mrs. Pelchat was a devoted homemaker to her husband, children and grandchildren. She had been employed at L. G. Balfour Company in Attleboro for two years before her retirement. She was a communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Her favorite times were spent in the company of her family creating memories to cherish and she adored the time spent gardening. Active in Sandcastle Estates activities, Mrs. Pelchat was a volunteer at the "Trash and Treasures" thrift shop at church. In addition to her husband, she leaves a daughter: Barbara Ann Whitman and her husband, Walter T. Whitman, of Glocester, Rhode Island; a son: Donald A. Pelchat of Plainville and his partner, Maureen P. Mcavoy, of Cumberland, Rhode Island; a granddaughter: Melissa Alberg; a grandson: Alex Alberg; a great-grandson, Spencer Alberg; her canine companion: Lucy and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was the sister of the late James Jackson, Grace Liddell and Frank Jackson. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving on Friday, January 23, 2015 - which would have been Mr. and Mrs. Pelchat's 61st wedding anniversary - at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 490 Broadway, Pawtucket, Rhode Island with the Rev. Gillian R. Barr, officiating. Burial will be private. Following church services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the church. At the family's request please do not send flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Gifts Fund at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 490 Broadway, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
