Barbara Palmer

Barbara Young Palmer, 85, of Oak Hill Avenue, Attleboro, passed away at the Golden Living Center-Garden Place in Attleboro on Monday, April 15, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth Earl Palmer, who predeceased her on August 29, 2000. Born in Attleboro on August 18, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Arthur E. and Elsie (Hudson) Young. Mrs. Palmer was a lifelong resident of Attleboro, and was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1945. Mrs. Palmer was for many years employed as Church Secretary for the Centenary United Methodist Church in Attleboro, where she was a longtime member, and where she also served her church community as a member of the Pearson Circle since 1948, as a member of the Board of Trustees of the TRI-M Fellowship, as a member of the Women's Society, as a Head Usher, and as a volunteer at the Hebronville Food Pantry. Mrs. Palmer served on the Attleboro Election Commission for thirteen years, and also often generously volunteered her services for various Attleboro City elections. Mrs. Palmer is survived by her loving and beloved children, Douglas R. Palmer and his wife Susan Palmer of Windsor, Connecticut, David E. Palmer and his wife Cheryl Palmer of Attleboro, and Doralee Falk and her husband Merril Falk of Attleboro; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; beloved brothers, Richard W. Young of Bradenton, Florida and David C. Young of Orlando, Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Centenary United Methodist Church, at the corner of 39 North Main St and 15 Sanford Street, Attleboro. A private burial at a later date will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, North Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Palmer's name may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, 39 North Main Street, Attleboro, Massachusetts 02703, or to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
