Barbara S. (Hatfield) Michaud passed away on January 6, 2025, at the age of 93, at the Life Care Center of Attleboro.
She was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts, and was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Marion (Stevens) Hatfield.
Barbara was preceded in death by her infant grandson, James M. King, and her husband of 21 years, Emery Michaud.
She graduated from Attleboro High School in 1950 and later returned to school as an adult to earn her degree as a medical secretary from Fisher Junior College.
Barbara worked at the Wrentham Developmental Center (formerly Wrentham State School) for ten years before retiring in 1989.
A long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in North Attleboro, she sang in the church choir for many years.
Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed traveling and spent many winters with her husband, Emery, at their home in Fort Myers, Florida. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed reading, as well as solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Hatfield, of Franklin, Massachusetts; her daughter Cynthia King, of Wakefield, Rhode Island; and her son, Steven King, and his wife, Sharon (Neidviecky) King, of South Attleboro. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Mathew King and his wife, Jillian (Silva) King of South Attleboro; Erica King and her partner, Tim Garnett, of Cumberland, Rhode Island; Gina (Bartolotta) Schneck and her husband, Cameron, of South Kingstown, Rhode Island; and Mia Bartolotta and her partner, Sawyer Morgan, of Boca Raton, Florida. She is also survived by her great-grandson, Liam King.
The family gratefully acknowledges the excellent care Barbara received at the Lifecare Center of Attleboro, the dedicated care of her PCP, Dr. Justin Lowe of Sturdy Health, and the compassionate care provided by Dr. Christina Bandera and her team at the Center for Women’s Health in Providence.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
A Funeral Service to which all are warmly welcome to attend will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 11:00 am in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Attleboro, MA.
