Barbara A. (Leach) McClelland, 80, a life-long resident of Attleboro, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Monday, March 31, 2014. Born in Attleboro on July 18, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Rose (Wagstaff) Leach. Barbara was a graduate of Attleboro High School. Mrs. McClelland was the owner and operator of Barbara's Beauty Nook for over twenty years. Once retired from hairdressing, she became a Certified Nursing Assistant until her retirement in 2009 at age 75. Barbara was a caring woman who enjoyed spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved taking trips to Foxwoods Casino and traveling, particularly to the Caribbean. Her passion, however, was antiquing. Mrs. McClelland is survived by her children: Lynn A. Blake and her husband, Kevin M. Blake of Attleboro, with whom she made her home; Cheryl A. Shaner and her husband, Thomas Shaner of Bellingham; four grandchildren: Tara Kindberg and her husband, Mark Kindberg; Thomas Blake; Melissa Daignault and her husband, Thomas Daignault; Stacey Houle and fiancé Paul Hasenfaus; six great-granchildren; Dustin, Darien, Dylan, Tyler, Collin, Cameron, and expecting a new great-grandson. She also leaves a nephew: Michael Messier and his wife, Lorraine Messier of Attleboro and cousin Jeannie Fontneau of Norton. She was the sister of the late Dorothy Messier. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial visitation on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Immediately following visitation, a memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home. Children's room is available during the visitation and memorial service. Per request of the family, burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a good deed for an elderly neighbor or friend be done in Mrs. McClelland's memory to honor her.
