Barbara Beryl (Bryant) MacEwen, 92, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Norwood Hospital in Norwood, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert John MacEwen who died on February 25, 2016, and to whom she was married on March 9, 1946.Born on May 19, 1924 in Brighton, England, she was the daughter of the late Harold Gordon Bryant and the late Vera (Rodwell) Bryant.Raised and educated in England, she resided in North Attleboro since 1946, having previously lived in New Brunswick, Canada and having summered at her family's cottage in Plymouth, VT.Barbara truly valued her role as a Homemaker to her family, and delighted in spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was an avid painter who enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and crafts, and the companionship over the years of her cat "Errol" and her poodles. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Attleboro, MA.She was the loving mother of Robert G. MacEwen and his wife, Diana MacEwen, of Brunswick, ME; Barry J. MacEwen and his late wife, Carolyn "Paige" MacEwen, of North Attleboro, MA who died on January 31, 2015; Christine J. MacEwen of North Attleboro, MA; and Cameron C. MacEwen and his wife, Mary MacEwen, of Mattapoisett, MA. She leaves six cherished grandchildren: Kate, Kirstie, Keegan, Christopher, Kerry, and Kayla, and was looking forward to the birth of her first great-grandchild. She leaves her nieces, Sandra Stack, Jane Lemay, Patricia McLaughlin, Carol Eigard, and her nephews, Scott MacEwen, and Graham Young. Barbara was the sister of Jean C. Young of British Columbia, Canada, and the late Christine F. MacKenzie.Visitation and Funeral Services are by invitation only on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.Burial in Shepardville Cemetery, Plainville, MA will be private.Barbara's family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to: Town of North Attleboro, Attn: Animal Shelter, 43 South Washington Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760.
