Barbara A. (Thorburn) Lasker, 83, of Crestwood Drive, Cumberland, Rhode Island, died on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Hospice Center in Providence, Rhode Island. She was the wife of the late Louis Aaron Lasker to whom she was married on December 22, 1950 and died on December 27, 2014. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 1, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Brewster Adams and Mildred Eunice (Baggs) Thorburn. She was a graduate of Brighton High School and had taken courses at the New England Conservatory of Music, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Rhode Island School of Design and Brown University. Mrs. Lasker was employed as a drafting specialist for Stone & Webster in Boston and as a commercial artist for the Christian Science Monitor in Boston prior to her retirement at the age of 58. Mrs. Lasker was a resident of Cumberland for more than 50 years having previously resided in Manchester, NH and Hartford, Connecticut. She was an ancestor of President John Quincy Adams. Her favorite pastimes included travel and solving crossword puzzles. Mrs. Lasker was the founder and longtime member of the Cumberland League of Women Voters, the Red Hatters, Daughters of the American Revolution and years ago was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She treasured times spent going out for breakfast with family and friends. She leaves a daughter: Deborah A. Lasker of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; a son: Aaron A. Lasker of Poway, California; two grandchildren: Amanda M. Lasker of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and Shannon M. Bradley in Florida; five great grandchildren all in Florida; a sister: Cheryl M. Keniston of Norton; a brother: Bruce Adams Thorburn, Jr. of Hampton, New Hampshire and several extended family members and friends. At the family's request, all services will be conducted privately. Private burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Please omit flowers.
