Arthur E. Fortin, 89, of Reservoir Street, North Attleboro, died on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton. He was the husband of Glenys C. (Howe) Fortin to whom he was married on June 14, 1952 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in North Attleboro. Born in North Providence, Rhode Island on July 17, 1922, Mr. Fortin was the son of the late Joseph O. Fortin and Eva (Hamel) Fortin. He was a graduate of LaSalle Academy in Providence. Mr. Fortin was employed as the plant manager and later served as vice president of operations for Miller Electric Company in Woonsocket, a division of Carol Cable, which produced electrical cord sets, electrical wire and cable, until his retirement on July 1, 1987 following 27 years of dedicated service. Prior to being employed with Miller Electric Company, Mr. Fortin was employed by Lister Worsted, Royal Electric and Phalo Plastics. He was a resident of North Attleboro for many years and was a communicant of St. Mark Roman Catholic Church in the Village of Attleboro Falls. In addition to his loving wife of almost 60 years, he leaves numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and extended family members and friends. He was the brother of the late Eva Fortin, Rita Leach, Joseph Fortin, Alfred Fortin, Leo Fortin, Marie P. Favreau and Doris Carrier. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Saturday morning, June 2, 2012 from 8:30 - 9:30 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mark Roman Catholic Church, 105 Stanley Street (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, turn right onto Stanley Street in ½ mile and travel to end of Stanley Street), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Thomas A. Frechette, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Please omit flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Fortin's name may be made to the charity of one's choice.
