Arline A. (Donnelly) Thresher Rioux, 86, of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully at the Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro, MA, on Saturday, October 23, 2021, following a period of declining health. She was the wife of John "Jack" E. Rioux Sr. whom she married on April 19, 1980 and was the wife of the late Donald L. Thresher who died in 1974.
Born in Fall River, MA, on January 12, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Edward F. Donnelly and the late Ruth (Anderson) Viveiros. Raised and educated in Fall River, MA, Mrs. Rioux was a 1953 graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School.
She resided in South Attleboro, MA since 1985, having previously resided in North Attleboro, MA and Attleboro Falls, MA. In earlier years, she was a member of the Central Congregational Church in Attleboro Falls.
Arline was employed as a secretary in the banking industry early in her career and later was employed as a secretary for what is now the law firm of Coogan Smith, LLP in Attleboro.
A dedicated homemaker, Arline cherished time spend with family. Sleepovers at Mamma and Pappa's were always the highlight of the week. Arline always had a kind word to say and forever put the needs of others before hers.
In addition to her husband of almost 42 years, she leaves her children: Jan Collins and her husband, Neil, of North Attleboro, MA; Robert E. Thresher and his wife Leslie, of North Attleboro, MA; and Alison Mathieson and her husband, Mark of North Attleboro, MA; her husband's children: Debra Robertson and her husband Steve, of Minot, Maine; Deri Rioux of Poland Springs, Maine; John "Jack" E. Rioux, Jr. and his wife, Trish of Moscow, Maine; Mark Rioux and his wife, Paulette of North Attleboro, MA; Brett Rioux of Livermore, Maine; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a brother: Peter Viveiros and his wife, Susan of Tiverton, Rhode Island, and several extended family members and friends.
Visitation has respectfully been omitted.
A private graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021, in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Rioux's name may be made to the Resident Activity Fund of Madonna Manor, 85 North Washington Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760.
