Arlene Fisher

Arlene (Lunden) Fisher, 88, of Hampden MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI. She was the beloved wife and best friend of the late George D. Fisher, Jr. of Hampden, the loving mother of Sue Hurley and her husband Ed of North Attleboro MA, and her son George D. Fisher III of Glastonbury, CT and Dennisport, MA, and his late wife, Debbie. Arlene was the cherished grandmother of Patrick Hurley and his wife Grace of Atlantic Beach, FL, Caitlin Gibbs and her husband Jon of Plainville, MA, Mathew Hurley and his wife Chelsea of Cumberland, RI; and to her great-grandson Tyler Gibbs. She is also survived by two brothers and was predeceased by six sisters and a brother.Arlene was born in Springfield, MA on September 17, 1928, the daughter of the late Harry and Marion (Davis) Lunden. She graduated from Agawam High School in 1946 and was formerly employed by The Third National Bank of Springfield and by Ryan Drug Store in Springfield, MA. Arlene married George, the love of her life and best friend, on August 25, 1951. They were married sixty-five wonderful, loving, fun-filled years before George's passing on December 28, 2016. George and Arlene were inseparable in life. Where you found one you no doubt found the other. Truly best of friends, they are now reunited.She was a long time member of the Hampden Federated Church, Yola Guild and Garden Club. Known to many as 'Ollie', she loved her family, friends, and traveling with her devoted husband George in their motor home. Together they traveled the country and wintered in Florida enjoying friends, their children, and three grandchildren. They also enjoyed motor homing throughout the Northeast, especially Cape Cod during the summer months.A Memorial Service celebrating Arlene's life will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Federated Community Church, 590 Main St., in Hampden, MA. Burial will be private at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Hampden. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the Hampden, MA Volunteer Fire Department, 190 North Road, Hampden, MA 01036, or to a charity of your choice in Arlene's memory.
