Antonio Soares

Antonio Soares, 85, of Westport, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, MA. He was the beloved husband of Maria De Lourdes Soares to whom he was married on July 28, 1963.
Born in St. Miguel, Azores, Portugal on March 18, 1937, he was a son of the late Jose Soares and the late Maria (Arruda) Soares.
Raised and educated in St. Miguel, he immigrated to the United States with his wife and young family at the age of 37. While living in Portugal, Mr. Soares was an active member of his Catholic parish for more than 30 years.
He resided in Westport for the past 5 years having moved to the community from Fall River.
Mr. Soares was a self-employed owner of a fence company.
He and his family attend St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Fall River.
In addition to his dedicated and devoted wife, he leaves three sons: Breno Soares of Westport, MA; Jose Soares in the Philippines and Fernando Soares in Portugal; his grandchildren: Brian, Taylor, Morgan, Brianna, Bobby, Christina, Ashley, Nicole, Rafael, Cathia and Nathan; many great grandchildren; two sisters: Margarita Carvalho in Canada and Lurdres Gouveia of Fall River, MA and extended family members and friends.
He was the father of the late Peter Soares and was the brother of the late Jose Soares, Manuel Soares, Maria Viveiros and Gloria Soares.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the Boule Funeral Home, 615 Broadway, Fall River, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Fall River.
Burial will be private.
Following church services, an invitation to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments will be announced.
