Anna Rose (Cusa) Arruda, R.N., 93, of Oxford, MA; formerly of Attleboro, MA; passed away at her residence in Oxford on September 5, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph T. Arruda, Sr. to whom she was married on November 11, 1950, and who died on December 11, 1999.
Born on June 15, 1929, the only child of Italian immigrants - the late Diego Cusa and the late Anna (Cavallo) Cusa. She resided in Attleboro for most of her life and was a 1927 graduate of Attleboro High School.
Mrs. Arruda was a graduate of the Sturdy Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse at Sturdy Memorial for 42 years prior to her retirement in 1992.
A longtime communicant of Holy Ghost Church, Attleboro, Mrs. Arruda was a C.C.D. teacher at the school for many years.
She was a member of the Sturdy Alumni Association, the Graduate Nurses Club, the Catholic Nurses Club and the Professional Business Women's Club.
Anna was an ardent reader, enjoyed knitting, crocheting and solving jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Her favorite pastimes included her weekly luncheons with friends, visiting people in nursing homes and watching the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots on television.
Left to mourn her loss are two sons: Joseph T. Arruda, Jr. of Foster, Rhode Island and Andrew J. Arruda of Oxford, MA with whom she resided.
A private graveside service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
