Alvin Lewis Jones, Sr.
November 18, 1946 — April 30, 2022
Alvin Lewis Jones, Sr., 75, of Attleboro, MA passed away on April 30, 2022, at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence, Rhode Island. He was the husband of Misty Anne White, his devoted caregiver, to whom he was married on July 27, 2017. He was the husband of the late Lorraine Jones.
Born in Williamstown, North Carolina on November 18, 1946, he was raised and educated in Williamston where he was a graduate of E. J. Hayes High School.
Mr. Jones was a taxi driver in Boston in earlier years and most recently was employed as a manager in the deli department at Stop & Shop locations throughout the area prior to his retirement four years ago.
An Attleboro resident for the past 20 years, Mr. Jones previously resided in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston.
Alvin loved to fresh and saltwater fish, cook traditional southern-style dishes, and was unselfishly devoted to his family. When residing in Dorchester, he was referred to as the "Neighborhood Dad" who took many fatherless children in the neighborhood under his wing and was the "protector" of his family.
In addition to his wife, left to mourn his loss are his children: Alvin L. Jones, Jr. and his wife, Gladys Jones, of Taunton, MA; Erskine "Cleo" Jones and his wife, Darlene Jones, of Seekonk; four-year old: Atreyu Lewis Jones of Attleboro and Velma (Brown) Ethridge of Philadelphia, PA; 13 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; his siblings: Dickie of Boston, MA and Paul Jones of New York City, New York and several extended family members and dear friends.
He was the father of the late Michael Sparrow, husband of Carmen, of Baltimore, Maryland.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Gathering on Saturday, May 7, 2022, from 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the American Legion, Newport Avenue, South Attleboro, MA.
Do not send flowers. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to benefit his young son.
