Alma Jane Spinney, 76, of Attleboro, passed away at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center on Thursday, April 25, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Ernest Spinney, Jr., who predeceased her on August 23, 2007. Mrs. Spinney was born in Wichita, Kansas on April 25, 1937, the daughter of the late Knute H. Andersson and Elizabeth Andersson Leonard of Wareham. Mrs. Spinney was a long-time resident of Attleboro, and was a graduate of Wareham High School and Bridgewater Teachers College. She taught physical education in Norton for many years, and also worked as a substitute teacher in the Attleboro schools. Mrs. Spinney then began her employment as the Activity Director at Hillside Adult Day Care in Attleboro for twenty years before retiring in 2006. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed bird watching, baking and embroidery, and was a member of the Mayflower Chapter of the Embroiderer's Guild of America, the Attleboro Area Council of Activity Professionals, and the Massachusetts Council of Activity Professionals. Mrs. Spinney especially loved cooking with her cherished grandchildren. In addition to her cherished mother, Mrs. Spinney is survived by her loving and beloved children, Alyce G. (Spinney) Farnell and her husband, Jeffrey L. Farnell of North Attleboro, and Randi L. Spinney of Attleboro. She was the mother of the late Heather-Ann (Spinney) Fagerberg. She also leaves two grandchildren whom she adored, Lincoln A. Farnell and Audrey E. Farnell, both of North Attleboro; loving siblings, a brother, Knute Andersson of Langlois, Oregon and a sister, Priscilla Mann and her husband, Benjamin Mann of Dunstable; as well as her son-in-law Eric Fagerberg and his wife, Gidget Fagerberg of Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 6:00 - 7:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Family and friends are encouraged to attend the funeral service immediately upon conclusion of visitation on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 7:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Private burial will take place at a later date in the North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Spinney's name may be made through the Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation, Inc., a registered 501 (c)(3) organization, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02760 to benefit The Friends of Rev.
