Allen Joseph Lemieux, Sr., 82, of Pullman Avenue, South Attleboro, died on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island as a result of injuries sustained in a single car motor vehicle accident on Route 95 South in Attleboro earlier the same day. He was the husband of Lillian V. (Salois) Lemieux to whom he was married on September 10, 1949. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on September 5, 1929, he was a son of the late Fernand and Rose (Rosner) Lemieux. He attended the former Pawtucket East High School and resided in Attleboro for the past 35 years having previously resided in North Attleboro for more than 25 years and in his native community of Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Mr. Lemieux was employed as a bus coordinator for special needs students for the City of Attleboro for ten years prior to his retirement five years ago. He was a communicant of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church in South Attleboro. Mr. Lemieux enjoyed landscaping and fine craft woodworking. He treasured the time spent creating lifelong memories with his beloved 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Mr. Lemieux will be sorely missed by his cherished family and his beloved canine companion, "Rosie". In addition to his wife of 62 years, he leaves seven children: Allen J. Lemieux, Jr. of Chesapeake, Virginia; Lorraine L. Lemieux of North Attleboro; Robert D. Lemieux of Rumford, Maine; Vivian R. Park of Attleboro; Joseph A. Lemieux of Attleboro; Donald R. Lemieux of Belfast, Maine and Pauline M. Braden of Coventry, Rhode Island; 18 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. He was the brother of the late Norman Lemieux and Joseph "Pug" Lemieux. Private funeral services will be held in the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket, Rhode Island. There are no public services.
