Alice E. (Whitney) Sloman, 84, of Christopher Heights, South Main Street, Attleboro; formerly of Knott Street, Attleboro, died on Sunday, July 8, 2012 unexpectedly at her residence. She was the wife of the late William "Bill" H. Sloman, Jr. to whom she was married on October 22, 1949 and died on January 6, 2010. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on March 30, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Earl C. and Elsie E. (Billington) Whitney. Raised and educated in the City of Attleboro, Mrs. Sloman was a 1946 graduate of Attleboro High School and then attended and graduated from the former Burdett College where she earned her education to become a medical secretary. Mrs. Sloman was employed as a medical secretary for many years prior to her retirement. Mrs. Sloman maintained a summer home on Touisset Point in Warren for many years and had resided in Bristol from 1949 until 1954. A woman of great artistic abilities, she enjoyed painting and creating crafts. She was a former member of the Junior Women's Club in Attleboro. She had a lifelong love for the ocean, anything nautical and was an avid sailor having raced in years past. She will be lovingly remembered for her love for the color blue. She leaves two sons: Wayne C. Sloman and his wife, Stephanie (Scorgie) Sloman, of Pascoag, Rhode Island and Dale W. Sloman and his wife, Holli (Quay) Sloman, of Palm Harbor, Florida and two grandchildren: Sean and Skye Sloman both of Pascoag, Rhode Island. She was the sister of the late James Whitney, PhD. Visitation respectfully omitted. A chapel service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at a future date. Inurnment will follow.
