Alice Theresa Savastano

Alice Theresa (Hyde) Savastano, 89, of Attleboro, MA, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018 with her family by her side, after bravely battling a long-term illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Mathew "Matt"  F. Savastano.
Born on December 17, 1928 in Pawtucket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Charles Carlton Hyde and the late Beatrice (Bridget) Veronica (Kelly) Hyde.
Alice was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1948.
She was employed as an Artisan at Clearfloat, Inc., in Attleboro, creating many beautiful embedded artworks. She left to follow her true calling in life as a beloved stay-at-home mom caring for her six children and many beloved pets.
Alice enjoyed a rich life in the company of Matt, whom she met on a bus to Jack Witchi's Roller Skating, where they were accomplished couples roller skating dancers. She enjoyed traveling and vacations with her family. Alice and Matt spent many winters in Fort Myers, FL, where they enjoyed playing cards, dominos, shuffle board and darts with their cherished friends whom they met from all over the United States. Alice was a champion at darts, winning several trophies. She also enjoyed bowling with the Seniors in East Providence, RI, and loved reading and completing crossword puzzles. Above all, Alice loved simply being in the company of her family.
Alice is survived by her six children: Marianne Lorusso and her husband, Gerry Lorusso, of Naples, FL; Sueanne Crumbaker and her husband, Charles Crumbaker, of Lakeville, MA; Donald Savastano and his wife, Elizabeth Tierney, of Seekonk, MA; Anthony Savastano and his wife, Pamela Brown, of South Dartmouth, MA; Lynne Gallery of Devon, PA; and Paula Savastano of Burbank, CA. She leaves eight grandchildren: Dominique Gallery; Aaron and Katrina Savastano; Ian, Ryan, Kailie, and Andrew Crumbaker; and Elysia Brown-Savastano. She is also survived by three sisters: Beatrice Green of Plainville, MA; Patricia Fontneau of Rochester, NH; Catherine Turley of Seekonk, MA; and two brothers: Walter Hyde of Franconia, NH; and Edward Hyde and his wife, Anne, of Rumford, RI. She was predeceased by her brothers: Charles Hyde Sr, and Ralph Hyde; and her sisters: Eileen Lee, Joan Lavendier, and Shirley Maynard.  Alice leaves many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and neighbors.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to honor and remember Alice by gathering for a Visitation on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Service on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist's Church, 133 North Main Street, Attleboro, MA.
A Graveside Service will immediately follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket, RI.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Alice to the Attleboro Senior Center at Friends of The Rev. Larson Senior Center Inc., 25 South Main St., Attleboro, MA 02703.
A Children's Room is available during the visitation and funeral service.
