Alice S. (Sowden) Phillips, 91, of Emerald Bay Manor, Cumberland; formerly of Old River Road, Lincoln, Rhode Island; died on March 15, 2012 at Hebert's Nursing Home in Smithfield, Rhode Island. She was the wife of the late Edgar L. Phillips who died on June 30, 1995. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on April 17, 1920, she was a resident of Lincoln before moving to Cumberland and more recently to Smithfield. Mrs. Phillips was a retired loan officer for the former People's Bank in Providence where she was employed for more than 20 years prior to her retirement in 1970. She attended St. John's Episcopal Church and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her favorite pastimes included knitting and making quilts. She was the mother of Barry A. Phillips and his wife, Jeanine L. (Carter) Phillips of Attleboro and Gwen E. Pasquale and her husband, Bruce, of Madison, NJ. Grandmother of David Pasquale in NJ; Kerri L. Rego of Rehoboth; Karen Janis in New York and Todd A. Phillips of Foxboro. Great grandmother of 11. Sister of the late Milton and Robert Sowden. Private funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 in the Highland Memorial Park Chapel, Johnston, Rhode Island with the Rev. Kelly Thibeault, Pastor of the First Congregational Church, North Attleboro, officiating. Burial will follow.
