Alice Elizabeth (Evans) Mitchell, 95, of Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Life Care Center of Attleboro in Attleboro, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond I. Mitchell.Born on January 6, 1923 in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Richard L. and Amalia (Bommely) Evans.She was a graduate of Coventry High School, and before her retirement, Alice worked for many years as a Transcriptionist for the VA Hospital, and as a Secretary in the office of the Guidance Counselor for the Burrillville High School. She always valued her role as a Homemaker to her family.Alice was a resident of Attleboro and North Attleboro for the past seventeen years, having previously lived in Coventry, RI. A woman of faith and devotion, she attended Centenary United Methodist Church in Attleboro, had been a member of a prayer group in Burrillville, and worked as an Assistant Kindergarten Teacher at her church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting, reading, playing the piano, and most especially spending time with her family.She was the loving and beloved mother of Sally E. (Mitchell) Hillman and her husband, Arthur W. Hillman, of North Attleboro, MA; Linda G. (Mitchell) Bourque and her husband, Ronald G. Bourque, Sr., of Plainfield, CT; and Paul R. Mitchell and his wife, Mara Mitchell, of Cedar Rapids, IA. She was the adoring grandmother of Michael S. Hosmer, Kimberly A. Erlich, Ronald G. Bourque, Jr., and twins Andre Mitchell and Arthur Mitchell; and the proud great-grandmother of many great-grandchildren. Alice was the sister of Helen Hathaway Gustafson of New Smyrna Beach, FL, and her late husband, Warren Gustafson; and was predeceased by her brothers, Carl Evans and Donald Evans.
