Alexander Wilson

June 3, 1929 — February 22, 2012

Alexander "Paul" Wilson was born on June 3, 1929 to the late Leroy and Carrie (Hayward) Wilson in Jacksonville, Florida. He was the oldest son of six children. Paul, as he was affectionately called, graduated from Stanton High School in Jacksonville. After graduation he enlisted into the Army where he served 23 years before retiring at the rank of Sergeant Major. On December 27, 1956 he married Margaret J. (Swan) Wilson. From that union, they had a son Alvin F. Wilson. Over the years he and his wife lived in many places, including Hawaii, New Jersey, New York and they finally settled in Attleboro, Massachusetts. After his successful military career ended, Paul took a position at Providence College as an equipment manager and assistant trainer and where he earned a Bachelors Degree of Arts. He later began working in Social Security Administration from which he retired after 20 years of service in 1995. Paul was greatly influenced by his time in the Military and was a hard worker who liked things neat and timely. In his spare time, Paul enjoyed camping, running, playing racquetball, gardening and his all time favorite hobby of watching any and all sports on television. He had a generous spirit and constantly opened his heart and home to the young ones over the years. Overall, Paul found true joy from spending time with his wife and grandchildren. Paul departed this life on February 22, 2012 at Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island in Providence, Rhode Island. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Christina Wilson, Mary Wright, and Henrietta Milliner; one brother: Wallace Wilson; his mother-in-law: Verna Swan; brother-in-law: Melvin Mangin and sister-in law: Roberta Coles. He leaves to honor his memory his wife of 56 years, Margaret; his son and daughter-in-law, Alvin and Alda residing in Saudi Arabia; two grandchildren: Alexandre Wilson of Paris, France and Gabriela Wilson of Lanciano, Italy; his sister: Vivian Howard of Jacksonville, Florida; three brothers-in-law: Robert Swan of Brooklyn, New York, Edwin Swan of Brooklyn, New York and Aaron Swan and his wife, Betty, of Princeton, New Jersey and a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews along with other beloved family members.
