Alexander "Santo" "Big Al" John Celeste, Sr., of Shady Lane, Hyannis, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, MA. Born on May 6, 1930 in Boston, MA, he was the son of Vincenzo Celeste and Lucy (Dido) Celeste, natives of Italy. Al was a resident of Hyannis for the past twenty-five years, having previously resided in Canton, MA. He was for many years self-employed in the retail business and also owned income properties. One of his greatest sources of pride was going into business with his two sons to form Celeste & Sons. A well-known fixture in Boston's West End and the North End, he also enjoyed walking along the marina and docks of Hyannis. Al always made time to travel with his family whether it was camping in his RV around the country or flying to the Caribbean where they would spend a month in Aruba. He enjoyed animals of most every kind, but had a special place in his heart for his Lhasa Apsos: "Tiki & Angel". Above all, Al loved his family, particularly his cherished grandchildren. He is survived by his four beloved children: Vincent A. Celeste and his wife, Laura (Noe) Celeste, of Norwell, MA; Alexander John Celeste, Jr. of Taunton; Michael A. Celeste and his wife, Carrie A. (Angers) Celeste, of North Attleboro, MA; and Gina Celeste of Hyannis, MA. He was the proud grandfather of Valerie, Isabella, Vincent, Ava, and Brooke Celeste; and the brother of Josephine (Celeste) Chellemi; Lena (Celeste) O'Neill; Frances (Celeste) Lewis; Mary Celeste; Salvatore Celeste; Charles Celeste; and Frank Celeste. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and dear friends. Visitation has respectfully been omitted. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service in Spring 2016, at a date and time to be announced.
