Alexander Berbeko, 81, of Cumberland, RI, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 5, 2021 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. He was the beloved husband of Dina (Breyman) Berbeko, whom he married on April 8, 1978.
Born on January 24, 1940 in Odessa, Ukraine, he was the son of the late Pavel Berbeko and the late Zenaeda (Mandzhaky) Berbeko.
Raised and educated in the Ukraine, he came to the United States on November 13, 1988. Alexander proudly worked for many years in the boating industry, primarily as a fishing ship transporter, before retiring.
A man of great faith and deep devotion to his family, he was an avid fisherman and reader. Alexander always held a special place in his heart for animals of all kinds, especially his cats and, in his earlier years, his German Shepherd. More than anything, though, he delighted in spending time with his wife, children, and his cherished grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Dina, he leaves his loving children: Elvira Elim-Karon and her husband, Michael Karon, of Brooklyn, NY; Anna Gasior and her husband, Andrzej Gasior, of Seekonk, MA; Valerya Couto and her husband, Nelson Couto, of Attleboro, MA; and Vladlena Berbeko of Providence, RI. He was the proud and adoring grandfather of Shawn, Joshua, Ashly, Olivia, Sybilla, and Dorian. Alexander was predeceased by his sister, Natalie, and leaves one niece and one nephew; his extended family; and dear friends.
A Private Visitation and Private Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
