Alda T. (Teixeira) Dufresne, 85, of Smith Street, Norton, died peacefully at her residence surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 20, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Joseph E. Dufresne, Sr. to whom she was married on July 21, 1951 at the former St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in the Barrowsville section of Norton. Born in Norton, Massachusetts on April 16, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Francisco J. and Jullianne (Roccio) Teixeira. She was a lifelong resident of the Town of Norton and was a graduate of Norton High School. Prior to her retirement in 1985, Mrs. Dufresne had been employed at various local companies including the Foxboro Company, Sannie's Clothing Store in Mansfield, Texas Instruments for 13 years and for several years at the House in the Pines for Girls in Norton. A woman of strong religious beliefs and convictions, she kept many family members and friends in her daily prayers. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary Church, Norton. Mrs. Dufresne was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Women's Club. An active member in community affairs, Mrs. Dufresne was involved with the Norton PTA when her children were young, was a member of the Norton High School Band Parent's Club and was a member of the Norton Touchdown Club. She was a life member and past president of the VFW Auxiliary - Post #8049, Norton. Mrs. Dufresne served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Norton Council on Aging for many years. She treasured times spent in the company of family and friends creating lifelong memories to cherish. The holiday season was among her favorite times of the year and held a special place in her heart. In addition to her husband of more than 61 years, she leaves four children: Joseph E. Dufresne, Jr. in Tennessee; Mark E. Dufresne, with whom she and her husband made their home, of Norton; Brenda M. Crowley in Delaware and Barry J. Dufresne of Rehoboth; six grandchildren: Kerri Ann Dufresne, Joseph "Jay" E. Dufresne, III, Timothy R. Crowley, Jaclyn A. Crowley, Hana Rose Dufresne and Jenna Rose Dufresne; her siblings: Mary T. Souza of Foxboro; Hilda A. McClanahan of Prince Frederick, Maryland; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends. She was the sister of the late Mary Rose Teixeira, Cecilia Teixeira, Joseph J. Teixeira, Frank J. Teixeira, Angelina M. Zupanick, Lucille A. Teixeira. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Patriotic Honors honoring years of service to the Veteran's of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary on Friday, November 30, 2012 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Funeral services with Patriotic Honors honoring years of service to the Veteran's of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 7:30 AM from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 9:00 AM at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, One Power Street, Norton with the Rev. Marc P. Tremblay, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, Mount Hope Street, North Attleboro. A children's room is available during visitation and while funeral cortege is being organized on Saturday morning. Those in need of transportation to visitation may simply call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis local transportation. An invitation will be extended to join the family for a continuation of the celebration of Mrs. Dufresne's life following graveside services through fellowship and refreshments at St. Mary's Parish Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Dufresne's name may be made to the Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation, Inc., a registered 501 (c) 3 organization, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02760 to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
