Alberto Inacio Sousa

Alberto Inacio Sousa, 85, of Carpenter Street, Attleboro, died on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Marianna C. (Aguiar) Sousa to whom he celebrated his 58th wedding anniversary on June 14th. Born in St. Miguel, Azores on May 27, 1926, he was a son of the late Luis I. and Maria (Da Gloria) Sousa. Raised and educated in the Azores, Mr. Sousa immigrated to the United States and settled in Fall River where he resided for three years prior to moving to the City of Attleboro in 1974. Mr. Sousa was employed as a machinist for Swank, Inc. in Attleboro for many years and later for the former Brainn Advance Industries, LLC in Attleboro for several years prior to his retirement. A man with strong religious beliefs, he was a devoted and faithful communicant of Holy Ghost Church. He enjoyed gardening with a special love for flowers and caring for the numerous fruit trees on his property. Saltwater fishing was a favorite pastime. Mr. Sousa was dedicated to his beloved pets, in particular, his dog, Cocoa, and his cat, Dawn. His fondest times were spent amidst the company of his beloved family. His family made him the happiest and he was most proud of each and every one of their accomplishments. In addition to his wife of 58 years, he leaves five children: Louis Sousa of North Attleboro; Antone Sousa of Seekonk; Theresa Corliss of Foxboro; Maryanne Adams of Attleboro and Amy Simkins of Eastham; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Anne Marie (Sousa) Hilario who died on March 29, 2009 and was predeceased by all of his siblings. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2011 from 4:00 8:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Childrens room available during visitation and while the funeral cortege is being organized. Those in need of a ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make and advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Relatives and Friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral on FRIDAY, December 23, 2011 at 9:15 AM from the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Holy Ghost Church, 71 Linden Street (exit 3A off I-95 S, merge onto South Avenue/Route 123E, South Avenue becomes Thacher St., go through light at County Square, Linden Street 3rd street on the right), Attleboro, with the Rev. John Murray, Pastor, principal celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Johns Cemetery, Attleboro. Following graveside services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of refreshment and fellowship in the lower level of Holy Ghost Church.
