Albert A. Martelli, Sr.

Albert A. Martelli, Sr., 94, of Taunton Street, Wrentham; formerly of Christopher Heights, South Main Street, Attleboro, died on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham. He was the beloved husband of the late Lois Jean (Reeves) Martelli to whom he was married on June 14, 1944 and whom entered into eternal rest on February 14, 2003. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on June 25, 1920, he was a son of Italian immigrants - the late John and Annie (D'Amilo) Martelli. He was raised and educated in the City of Attleboro having attended Attleboro schools. He remained a lifelong resident of his native community for most of his life. Mr. Martelli was a veteran of the United States Navy having enlisted on December 14, 1941 and proudly serving until his honorable discharge in November 1945. He was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the American Area Medal. Mr. Martelli was employed by Bliss Brothers Dairy for more than 56 years having worked as a plant employee and route foreman for the company. He will be lovingly remembered by his family as a man with a strong work ethic and a love for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His favorite pastimes including walking and times spent on Cape Cod. He treasured time spent in his flower and vegetable gardens particularly cultivating corn, very large watermelons and devoting time to his strawberry patch. An ardent sports enthusiast, Mr. Martelli loved the Boston Red Sox. He leaves four children: Lois J. Goodblatt and her husband, Sherwin Z. Goodblatt, of Sharon; Barbara A. Martelli of North Attleboro; Lynne H. Lesieur and her husband, Alan R. Lesieur, of Plainville and Albert A. Martelli, Jr. and his wife, Diane H. Martelli of North Attleboro; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a brother: Richard Martelli of Cumberland, Rhode Island and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and many dear friends. He was the brother of the late Chester "Chet" Martelli. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran's Honors on Sunday, November 16, 2014 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. For those in need of a local ride to visitation simply call the funeral home directly at 508-695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a Funeral Service with Veteran's Honors on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 9:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Oak Knoll Cemetery, Rehoboth. Children's room is available during the visitation and the funeral service. Please omit flowers.
