Albert Gerald "Gerry" Castonguay, 88, of Norton, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 at the Lifecare Center of Raynham where he had been a resident for the past month. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor L. (McKenney) Castonguay to whom he was married on June 20, 1964 and who passed on May 13, 1996.
Born in Limestone, Maine on July 1, 1932, he the 13th child of 14 born to Thomas Castonguay and Josephine (Raymond) Castonguay. He lived at "The Branches" in North Attleboro for more than two years and previously resided in New Bern, North Carolina and Kennebunkport, Maine. He was a former resident of Washington, CT.
Mr. Castonguay was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War era.
A business educator, Mr. Castonguay taught in Fort Fairfield, Maine and at the New Milford High School in Connecticut.
Mr. Castonguay was a communicant of the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish - St. Mary's, formerly St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, North Attleboro.
He treasured the times spent playing golf and tennis particularly at his North Carolina community of the Emerald Golf Club.
Gerry and Eleanor traveled throughout the world.
He leaves three generations of adoring nieces and nephews.
Mr. Castonguay was the brother of the late Loretta Kelly, Theresa Nealand, Alice McNulty, Anne-Marie Kirkpatrick, Yvonne Cormier, Cecil Boucher, Mildred White, Lillian, Pauline, Raymond, Alphonse, Joseph and Patrick Castonguay.
With strict adherence to applicable Covid-19 health precautions, including social distancing and the mandatory use of facemasks, relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation with Veteran's Honors on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a prayer service at 4:00 PM.
Relatives and friends will be invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at a future date at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, 143 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, Maine.
Burial with military honors will follow in St. Denis Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, Maine where Gerry will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Eleanor.
As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, or the Alzheimer's Association.
