Albenzio "Chucky" DiMezza, Jr., 83, of High Street, Bristol, died on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Rose (Voccio) DiMezza to whom he was married on April 7, 1951 and who died on January 12, 2010. Born in Bristol, Rhode Island on January 13, 1928, Mr. DiMezza was a son of the late Albenzio DiMezza, Sr. and Anna (Vona) DiMezza. He was a lifelong resident of Bristol and maintained a home in West Palm Beach, Florida for many years. Mr. DiMezza was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the World War II era. He was employed as a distributor for McLaughlin & Moran, Inc. in Providence prior to his retirement. He had also worked for the family business, DiMezza's Bakery, on Wood Street in Bristol. Mr. DiMezza was an avid golfer and many years ago was a member of a semi-professional football team in Bristol. Mr. DiMezza was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He treasured the time spent creating lifelong memories with his adoring grandchildren. He leaves his children: Ersilia DiMezza Fanuele and her husband, Anthony Fanuele, of Swansea; Albenzio "Benzy" DiMezza, III and his wife, Roberta (Cicilline) DiMezza, of Bristol and Lisa Ann DiMezza ?Barry and her husband, George Barry IV, of Bristol; eight adoring grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews and many extended family members including those of his wife's family. He was the brother of the late Louis DiMezza and Martha DeLeo. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Providence, 45 Gay Street, Providence, RI 02905-2322.
