Alan Joseph Plante, 63, of Carver, MA, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. He was the beloved husband of Laila M. (Fager) Plante, to whom he was married on June 19, 1990.Born on August 24, 1953 in Fort Bragg, NC, he was the son of Grace A. (Smith) Plante of Dartmouth, MA, and the late Adolphe J. Plante, Jr. A resident of Carver for the past forty-two years, he previously lived in Dartmouth, MA. He was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and worked for thirty years as a Retail Buyer for Ann & Hope in Cumberland, RI before retiring in May 2016.Alan attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dartmouth. He was throughout his life a hardworking man who truly enjoyed the collegiality of his co-workers. He loved the Fourth of July and watching fireworks, visits to the casino, and the companionship of the family cats. Above all, Alan valued time spent with his cherished family.In addition to his wife and mother, Alan is survived by his treasured children: Jason M. Plante and his wife, Amy L. Plante, of Acushnet, MA; Michael A. Plante and his wife, Sandra Plante, of Fairhaven, MA; Christopher M. Plante and his fiancée, Brooke Bochman, of Dartmouth, MA; Megan M. Plante and her companion, Jon Kemmett, of Wareham, MA; and Dr. Sarah A. (Plante) Noponen and her husband, Rob W. Noponen, of Birmingham, England. He was the adoring grandfather of ten grandchildren and one great-grandson. Alan was the brother of Donna A. (Plante) Cordeiro of Dartmouth, MA; Steven J. Plante of Acushnet, MA; Dale M. (Plante) Rogers of Dartmouth, MA; and Susan A. (Plante) Sylvia of Acushnet, MA. He leaves several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Visitation has respectfully been omitted.Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 783 Dartmouth Street, Dartmouth, MA. All are invited to attend a breakfast at the Century House, 107 S. Main Street, Acushnet MA immediately following church services. Burial will be private.
