Alan F. Moody, of North Attleboro, a man whose presence brought light, laughter, and love to all who knew him, transitioned on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Hulitar Hospice Center at the age of 79, surrounded by his beloved family.
He was born in Cranston, RI but spent a-lot of his youth in Touisset, Rhode Island. Alan spent his early days sailing the Kickemuit River and embracing life by the water. After serving in the Navy, he followed his creative calling to the Brooks Institute of Photography in California. Around that time, he met Claire—the woman who would become his wife and partner in every adventure for over 53 beautiful years.
Alan’s passion for photography became a lifelong career, but his true joy was found in the moments shared with family and friends. Whether volunteering at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, capturing life through his lens, meeting friends for coffee, or simply walking the beach with Claire, Alan gave his time and heart freely. He had an uncanny way of making everyone feel seen and heard—once you met him, you had a friend for life (whether you liked it or not!).
He and Claire built a loving home in North Attleboro, where they raised their daughters Shannon and Melissa. Alan was a proud and playful grandfather to his six grandkids, never missing a chance to cheer them on, celebrate a milestone, or share a story.
He loved sunsets in the Florida Keys where he found peace and inspiration. He also loved snorkeling, reading, and laughing over a good cup of coffee. His life was one of intention, kindness, and connection.
Alan was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Evelyn Moody, and his brother, Doug Moody. He is survived by his wife Claire, daughters, Shannon Paul and her husband KC, and Melissa Belmonte and her husband Chris; and his cherished grandchildren, Cole, Paige, Atticus, Noah, Enzo, and Pax.
His memory will live on in every wave, every sunset, and every story told with love. In his life, he was known as Alan, Dad, Grandpa and Beepa. He always said he wanted a celebration when the time came.
To honor his wishes, we’ll be gathering on WEDNESDAY, MAY 28, 2025 at Heather Hill Country Club, 149 W. Bacon Street, Plainville, MA to remember him the way he would’ve liked. We'll start with a more formal greeting line from 4:00 to 5:00, so those who want to share a hug or a memory with the family can do so. After that, from 5:00-7:00, we’ll move into what he would’ve really enjoyed—good food, stories, and time together. Please join us to celebrate a life well lived. Feel free to come for either part or stay for both—whatever feels right to you.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Alan’s memory may be made to 21FrienDS, 1118 Drift Road, Westport, MA 02790 or directly to:
