Agnes Mary Frederickson

May 31, 1920 — July 1, 2017

Agnes Mary (Cronin) Frederickson, 97, of Norton, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Daggett Crandall Newcomb Home in Norton where she had been a long-time resident. She was the loving wife of the late Russell Martin Frederickson, Sr.Born on May 31, 1920 in Attleboro, MA, she was the daughter of the late William Francis Cronin and Delia Marie (McHugh) Cronin. A graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1938, she took a job in government in Washington, DC as a young, single woman during WWII, a pursuit that was progressive in her era. Returning to Attleboro, she worked for many years as Administrative Assistant for the late Stanley "Mel" Gower, President of the former Attleboro Trust Company. As a longtime resident of Attleboro, she was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church, a volunteer at St. John the Evangelist School library and a member of the St. John's Women of Spirit. A voracious reader, she enjoyed mysteries and historical fiction, as well as watercolor painting and spending summers at the beach in Plymouth. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family. She is survived by her brother Walter Cronin of Orleans, MA, as well as three beloved children: Russell M. Frederickson, Jr., and his wife, Jody (Varner) Frederickson, of Sausalito, CA; Tracy A. Frederickson and her husband, Tucker MacGregor of Norton, MA; Marie E. Frederickson of Thailand and the late William F. Frederickson most recently of Thailand. She was the adoring grandmother of Kenneth Bret Peterson, Russell Bart Peterson, Paige F. MacGregor, Neeve F. MacGregor, Sean P. Frederickson, and Nial P. Frederickson, and great-grandmother of Christina Peterson, Liam Peterson, Hannah Peterson, and Joseph Peterson, and leaves several nieces and nephews. In addition to her roles as loving wife, sister and mother, grandmother and aunt, Agnes enjoyed a wide variety of pursuits throughout her life.As a young woman with 3 brothers, she became an avid sailor with her father even purchasing for her a very special sailboat. She attended St. Matthews Cathedral during her time in DC, where she and Russell, Sr., completed their pre-Cana for their eventual marriage back in Attleboro at St. John's. After Attleboro Trust, she also enjoyed working at WARA Radio, at the Attleboro Public Library, and sold residential real estate in her and Russ's spare time. Agnes also golfed with a group of gals and pursued quite a variety of other activities. Our family is hard-pressed to actually count the number of times and number of jobs from which she retired as it was her passion to stay active in the many different phases of her life. She and Russ traveled quite extensively in Asia and Europe, as well as the special times reconnecting with her Irish relatives. This led to her deeper exploration of the family's genealogy. Her Catholic faith always accompanied her on life's journeys. In addition to life-long commitment to St. John's parish church, school and library, she was also an enthusiastic volunteer for the Priests of LaSalette Shrine, eventually selling the family home at 928 Park Street to the Fathers. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to gather and greet Agnes' family on Monday, August 21, 2017 from 9:15 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main Street, Attleboro, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at the church.Burial services will immediately follow in St. John's Cemetery, Attleboro, at which time Agnes will be laid to rest with her late husband, Russell.
