Achille "Al" De Sanctis
May 9, 1939 — February 20, 2022
Achille "Al" De Sanctis, 82, of Rutland, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester, MA. He was the beloved husband of Margaret C. (Morrison) De Sanctis, whom he married on March 26, 1976.
Born on May 9, 1939, in Rome, Italy, he was the son of the late Tomasso De Sanctis and the late Elide (Pelliccioni) De Sanctis.
A resident of Rutland since April 2021, he previously lived in North Attleboro, MA, for many years.
Raised and educated in his early years in Rome, he was a graduate of both Dean Junior College and Bryant College and worked for more than thirty years as a Certified Public Accountant for the M.S. Company in Attleboro, MA, before retiring.
A warm, outgoing man with many varied interests, he delighted in listening to Italian music and was an avid sports fan who enjoyed golf, racquetball, snow skiing, swimming, and hunting. He loved spending time with Margaret and at his former home on Cape Cod, and loved the beach, especially the Cape's Onset Beach. More than anything, Al deeply cherished being with his family.
In addition to his wife, Margaret, he leaves his loving daughter, Kristie McNamara and her husband, Brad McNamara, of Rutland, MA. He was the proud and adoring grandfather of Brady L. McNamara and Kennedie L. McNamara. Al leaves two sisters and one brother, all in Italy, many nieces and nephews, his extended family both near and far, and many dear friends. He was predeceased by two brothers and one sister.
With continued adherence to Covid-19 precautions, including social distancing and the use of facemasks, relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, immediately followed by a Memorial and Celebration of Life Service at 5:00 p.m. at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.
Burial will be private.
As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Al to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org .
