Eugenia L. Pierce

Eugenia "Genie" L. (Ostrowski) Pierce, 87, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Michael Pierce, who died on May 30, 2016. Born on October 17, 1930 in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Regina (Andruszkiewicz) Ostrowski. Eugenia worked for forty-five years as a Paraprofessional in the North Attleboro School System before retiring. She touched the lives of many students and their families at Allen Avenue, Falls Elementary, and Amvet Boulevard Schools. She was a resident of North Attleboro since 1966, having previously lived in East Bridgewater and Dorchester, MA. A founding member of St. Mark's Parish in Attleboro Falls, she was a member of the Women's Club and most recently served on the hospitality committee. Additionally, she was a founding member, with her husband, of the St. Mark's church fair. She worked diligently in the "What Not Shoppe" bringing joy to all those with whom she interacted. Eugenia was proud of her Polish heritage. She was a longtime member of the Massachusetts Federation of Polish Women's Clubs, and was a past President of the Krakowiak Polish Dancers of Boston. Participation in the Krakowiak Polish Dance Group played an integral part in her life; it was there that she met her cherished husband, and there that she made many lifelong friends. Eugenia loved dancing with her husband and they won numerous waltz competitions over the years. More than anything else, Eugenia loved time spent with her husband, her five children, and their ever-growing families. She was the beloved mother of Steven L. Pierce and his wife, Sharon K.(Smith) Pierce, of Norfolk, MA; Ann "Nancy" R. (Pierce) Grenier and her husband, Captain John L. Grenier, of Cumberland, RI; the late James D. Pierce and his wife, Sylvia A. (Sullivan) Pierce of San Marcos, CA; Susan M. (Pierce) Susienka and her husband, Joseph R. Susienka,Jr., of Whitinsville, MA; and Elizabeth A. (Pierce) Skarbinski and her husband, Michael A. Skarbinski, of Pittsboro, NC. She was the proud and adoring grandmother of eighteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Eugenia was the sister of Lucy Kazanowski of Braintree, MA, and her late husband, Joseph Kazanowski; the late Edward Ostrowski; and the late Felix Ostrowski. She leaves her brother-in-law, Dr. Alvin J. Pierce of Framingham, MA, many nieces and nephews, and dear friends. Friends and family are cordially invited to honor and remember Eugenia by gathering for a Visitation on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 4:00p.m. - 8:00p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home-the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA. A Children's Room is available during the visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Parish, 105 Stanley Street, Attleboro Falls, MA. Burial will be on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at which time Eugenia will be laid to rest alongside her late husband.
